Human Existence: To Want

There is something about capturing the rawness of humanity that fuels me. Being able to apprehend the tender soul and emotion of human kind is a capability I want to nurture, I want to master, I want to share with the universe. The realness of the human condition, in all its forms, is what I hope for my pencil to reflect on paper.
My focus since picking up the graphite again this year has been to hone in on my realism skills, molding them and transforming them into skills of hyperrealism. I want to capture the flawless imperfections that we offer, from the dryness of our hair, to the wrinkles and blemishes on our skim, to the shimmers and glazes of our eyes that hold the key to our emotions. I want my pencil to embody the aspects of what it means to be imperfectly human. Each drawing I complete is an experiment, a lesson to learn from and grow upon. I want to make people question their own vision, forcing them to determine if what they're gazing upon is a photograph or something else. Even with a closer look, I want every mark of graphite to encapsulate the human presence. I want to improve upon my craft, become more masterful in the pursuit I started when I was young. I want to draw people, for people, to help them connect to the human existence -- one pencil stroke at a time.
This is what I want.
